The program provides a safe ride home this New Year’s Eve for pickups originating within the city of Buffalo. Safe rides will be available from midnight on New Year’s Eve through 4 a.m. on Friday, January 1, 2010.
"On New Year’s Eve when family and friends are getting together to celebrate, we would like help to ensure that everyone involved has a fun and safe evening," said Michael Mule, Owner of Designated Drivers of Buffalo.
Simply call Designated Drivers of Buffalo and they will send two uniformed drivers to pick up you and your car. While patrons typically pay for this service, attorney William Mattar will be picking up the entire tab during Mattar’s New Year’s Eve Safe & Sober Ride Home Program. The program pays for rides originating within the city of Buffalo with a maximum drop-off distance of 20 miles within Western New York.
To request a free ride home, individuals can call Designated Drivers of Buffalo at (716) 713-7703. Rides are made available to area merrymakers who might otherwise attempt to drive home after drinking. Rides are provided to an individual’s residence – not to other drinking locations. Due to the high number of ride requests, rides cannot be guaranteed for everyone who calls; however, every attempt will be made to accommodate everyone who requests a ride home.
